Tomasu Sambal – A potential new chapter in Craftsmanship

At Tomasu, our journey has always been fueled by curiosity, a DIY approach, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. Today, we're proud to unveil our newest creation: Tomasu Sambal, a product that started as a happy accident and evolved into something truly special. Or at least... that's what the first people who tried it keep telling us.

Crafted from our signature madame jeanette peppers and sesame seeds soaked in our sweet & spicy soy sauce, this sambal is the result of countless trials, adjustments and a bit of luck. The process begins with brewing our soy sauce for over 24 months, followed by an additional 6 months to create our sweet & spicy variant. Then, the residue is left to mature for another 6 months, yielding a sambal that’s bold, flavorful, and unlike anything we’ve tasted before.

This sambal wasn’t something we planned, but in hindsight, it feels like everything naturally fell into place. Maybe that’s a good sign? After using it in our own kitchens and hearing from people around us, we felt the time was right. We’re confident that this sambal embodies the character of Tomasu: experimental, authentic, and made with attention to detail.

We’ve never been driven by the idea of creating a wide product range. Instead, we’ve always found beauty in focusing on a single, carefully developed product line. We see this sambal not as a broadening of our range, but as a natural deepening of our craft. It fits seamlessly into what we already do, building on our existing process. Plus, it allows us to explore the world of peppers even further—which, to be honest, is one of the things we enjoy most.
